"Rome & Jewels": A Hip-Hop Adaptation of Shakespeare

Rennie Harris presents "Rome & Jewels" is a acclaimed hip-hop concert dance adaptation of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet", a foundational work of Street Dance Theater—a term coined by Harris himself. This acclaimed production reimagines Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" as a hip-hop concert dance. Playing at The Joyce Theater in NYC.
Set in the streets of Philadelphia, the narrative portrays feuding families as rival street gangs. The story explores themes of love, violence, and survival through a dynamic hip-hop aesthetic, integrating various street dance styles like B-boying, popping, locking, and house dancing. Watch Here
